Online Closure of the Third BRIDGE Session
On May 14, 2020, in the framework of the ENI KO1013 project BRIDGE – Barents Region Initiative for Developing Growth and Employability PetrSU held the final videoconference of the BRIDGE third session that featured the presentations of the solutions to the 9 business cases prepared by the team of coaches and coordinators of Murmansk Arctic State University.
The videoconference convened representatives of the five partner-universities: the Arctic University of Norway (Lead Partner), Lapland University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Murmansk Arctic State University, ITMO University (Saint Petersburg), and Petrozavodsk State University.
Over 60 people (including 18 foreign representatives), as well as representatives of small businesses of the city of Murmansk, took part in the online presentation. PetrSU was represented by seven Master and Bachelor Degree students of the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences and the Institute of Economics and Law: Ekaterina Shestakova, Evgeny Nikolaev, Yana Stepanova, Maria Pimenova, Maksim Tkachenko, Daria Feshkina, and Mikhail Glushanok. The group leader is the Associate Professor of the Department of Economic Theory and Management Oksana Prokhorova. Altogetherб the project included nine cases, while the PetrSU team contributed to the solution to six of them: Lappi Tour, Albion, Freediving, SoyuzMash, Ledokol club, AMA Kids, Raduga Severa, Focus, Botanik. The participants used the online platform Microsoft Teams for joint online meetings, exchange and work with documents, video meetings, and conferences.
The online mode allowed all participants and their coaches to present the result of the seven-week-long work, while commissioners and project coordinators could evaluate the solutions to the business cases of Murmansk companies, mainly representing small businesses. As a result, the project teams presented practical solutions for the development of such areas as tourism, museum of entertaining science with interactive exhibits, academy of children intellectual development, eco-café, jazz club, and freediving school.
According to one of the commissioners, the owner of the BotaniK café Svetlana Petrova “the BRIDGE project is a great experience of collaborating with young minds that helps to get a fresh perspective on new opportunities for your business, particularly in digital context”.
The winner of the third session is the Lappi Tour team that featured PetrSU students Mikhail Glushanok (IEL) and Yana Stepanova (IHPSS) who worked under the guidance of the coaches the Associate Professor Oksana Prokhorova (IEL) and Mika Saloheimo, Finnish teacher of Marketing at Lapland University of Applied Sciences.
The next, fourth, BRIDGE session will be organized and held by Petrozavodsk State University in October 2020. Currently, there are three scenarios for the seminar: an offline meeting between all partner-universities, an intermediate option with Russian partners meeting together, and connecting to Norwegian and Finnish colleagues online, and finally, an entirely online meeting between all participants, including commissioners, working on cases provided by PetrSU.
The BRIDGE team shows flexibility and is ready to adapt its activities so no changing circumstances affect the general outcome.
