Karelian Wellness webinars
The Department of Tourism of the Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Tourism of PetrSU is implementing a project on the development of health tourism Karelian Wellness.
Nowadays, the development of health tourism is becoming one of the most important priorities of the tourism industry in border regions. An educational webinar for Finnish and Russian entrepreneurs was held on October 21 within the framework of the international project Karelian Wellness, one of the partners of the project is the Department of Tourism of the Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Tourism of PetrSU. The entrepreneurs could gain up-to-date information about the prospects for wellness tourism, join the discussions, share their work experience, and discuss opportunities for cooperation.
Riikka Räsänen, Karelian Wellness project manager, and Elisa Sulkinoja, Karelian Wellness project researcher, moderated a discussion on what is wellness tourism in Eastern Finland and what are the aspects of the Karelian Wellness concept. Besides, the participants of the webinar had the opportunity to get acquainted with the results of the latest research on how the organizations of Eastern Finland and the Republic of Karelia assess the wellness tourism potential. Natalia Kolesnikova, Associate Professor of Petrozavodsk State University prepared a presentation on the potential of the Russian participants in the Karelian Wellness project.
The next webinar will be held on October 27 at 10.30.
Topic: «Development of services in the field of health tourism». Experts from the Karelia University of Applied Sciences and Savonia University of Applied Sciences will discuss how design-thinking is used in wellness tourism and what methods companies can use to develop their services.
