BRIDGE Project Won the International Competition "Arctic Awards 2020"
The project "BRIDGE - Barents Region Initiative for Developing Growth and Employability"has been awarded with the prestigious international Arctic Awards in the nomination "Entrepreneurial Spirit". PetrSU hosted the online session of BRIDGE in September and November 2020.
The international educational BRIDGE project,withPetrSUas a partner, was officially declared the winner of the prestigious international Arctic Awards competition. The competition grants theawards the most significant projects from around the world which contribute to the development of the Arctic region.
The Arctic Awards considers not only innovative technological and environmental developments, but also unique cultural and educational polar projects. This year, the Arctic Awards paid special attention to youth projects and defined two categories for the award: "Entrepreneurial Spirit" and "Overcoming Critical Mass". 15 candidates were shortlisted for Arctic Awards 2020.
The BRIDGE project took the 1st place in the "Entrepreneurial Spirit" nomination for "developing the capabilities of young entrepreneurs". It should be reminded that the BRIDGE recent 4th session on finding the solutions to the 10 business cases for Karelian enterprises was conducted by PetrSU and, in particular, the Institute of Economics and Law (project coordinator was Oksana Prokhorova, Associate Professor of the Department of Economic Theory and Management of PetrSU). The participants’ feedback showed that it was a positive collaboration experience of Karelian business and international teams of students and coaches from Finland, Norway and Russia.
For information, the winner in the "Overcoming Critical Mass" nomination became the Arctic 5G Test Network project. It enables cross-border testing opportunities in the 5G networks.
The Arctic Awards 2020 ceremony was held online. Northern Periphery has released an official video in this regard.
The international educational BRIDGE project is a part of the CBC Kolarctic 2014-2020. The project involves PetrSU and four partner-universities: the Arctic University of Norway (Lead Partner), Lapland University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Murmansk Arctic State University and ITMO University (Saint Petersburg).
BRIDGE aims at consolidation of international interdisciplinary student teams using the Internet platform to solve business cases proposed by companies in the Arctic zone.
