Consul General of Norway in St. Petersburg Richard Scarborough Met with PetrSU Students
On December 8, PetrSU Youth Innopark held an International Round Table with the Consul General of Norway in St. Petersburg.
Richard Scarborough, the Norwegian Consul General in Saint Petersburg, delivered a lecture about the difficulties that Norway faced during the COVID-19 pandemic and the measures that Norway took to overcome the crisis. Ilya Solomeshch, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of World History, Political Science and International Relations, moderated the meeting.
PetrSU students, teachers and employees listened with great interest to the speaker and asked questions about the relations between Norway and Sweden, the Scandinavian state model, the key methods that allow labor organizations in Norway influence the Government, the social assistance that was provided to small businesses, the Norwegian phenomenon “Dugnad” (Folk Solidarity) in archiving social equality in COVID-era in Norway and many more.
The Consul, in turn, asked the students about their plans for the future. Many replied that they see themselves as specialists in the field of international relations with solid historical background. Also, some of the guests revealed their dream of studying and working abroad, in particular in Sweden, Norway and the United States.
