To England for 2 Years
For the second time, PetrSU held a competition among students of the Institute of Philology and the Institute of Foreign Languages for the position of Russian Language Assistant at Eton College (UK) for the next two academic years.
The competition consisted of two stages. First, students submitted their CVs and essays to the coordinators in Eton, then the candidates were interviewed via Zoom. 5 out of 16 students of PetrSU have been selected for the second stage. As in the previous year, our English colleagues were very impressed with the applications of our students. John Greenwood, Head of the Russian Language Department at Eton College, noted the students' enthusiasm, knowledge of their subject field and superlative command of English.
The winner of the competition is Ekaterina Morozova, a 1st year Master's student at the Institute of Philology.
Ekaterina told about participation in the competition:
"When I saw the information about the position of a Russian Language Assistant at Eton College, I was not sure if it was worth applying. Certainly, I have already had teaching experience at the Russian Center in Hungary, but still it was volunteering, so I doubted. In the end, I decided to submit my CV and Motivation Letter, and soon I was invited to go for an interview.
The interview went well and I belonged there. John and Joe (Russian language and literature teachers at Eton College) were very friendly, we even managed to discuss common interests and favorite books.
Following the conversation, I was informed that the results would be available next week. And, of course, I did not expect at all that I would get an affirmative reply in about three hours after the interview".
Under the agreement between PetrSU and Eton College, this competition will be held annually. The Exchange Programs Division and the VK group "PetrSU Exchange Programs" can provide more detailed information.
