Students in Inter-Institutional Climate Project
Master's students of "Psychology and Teacher Education" presented their perception on the global problems and joined the work of PetrSU humanitarians on the issue of climate change on our planet.
This joint inter-institutional project was created in September 2021 and since then, it arises great interest among PetrSU humanities scholars. The extra-mural master's students also do not stand aside and devote their attention to this global problem. The result of the joint student group activity in English was the creation of a website covering the environmental situation in the world.
This work is carried out on the basis of the Resource Center for Modern Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages (Department of Foreign Languages for Humanities). Its teachers Irina Abramova and Elena Shishmolina lead a professionally oriented project, the main goal of which is to stimulate the interaction of students and draw students' attention to topical issues of modern society.
Students marked the most pressing issues in the modern world in their videos, for example, the problems of climate change, since it leads to the threat of extinction of entire species of animals and plants, and the deterioration of living conditions for humans. Of course, the problems of growing carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere and the destruction of the ozone screen are also important, thus, it requires the world community to take urgent measures to prevent possible catastrophic consequences.
This is an attempt to look at the problems of climate change from the perspective of their major. This factor and also the experience of joint group work definitely contribute to the formation of the competencies necessary for graduates and involvement in a professionally oriented learning environment, motivating them to study complex professional issues in English,
− shared the project’s organizers.
