The Story of How Climate Changes History
PetrSU students analyze the impact of climate change on human life and economic activity, on the diversity of plant species and natural habitats of animals, and on global security.
Students of the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences devote special attention to the influence of climate on history.
Thus, the second-year students of the Department of Russian History under the guidance of Olga Vikulina (Department of Foreign Languages for Humanities) touched upon the issues of historical research on the climate impact on society. Artyom Kuzmin, the 2nd year student, prepared a documentary video, highlighting the problem of climate influence on the history and culture of peoples and civilizations. The film examines the impact of climatic conditions on the population migration, the nature of the relationship between peoples, trade, culture, health and well-being.
The film was prepared within the Resource Center for Modern Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages (Department of Foreign Languages for Humanities), and Irina Abramova, the Head of the Department, alongside with Elena Shishmolina, associate professor, were the authors of this project.
