Cooperation with the Landesspracheninstitut (Federal Republic of Germany)
The Institute of Foreign Languages of PetrSU continues the cooperation with the Landesspracheninstitut (LSI in der Ruhr-Universität Bochum) within the Netzwerk D Consortium.
From November 2021 until January 2022, teachers of the partner universities of the Consortium studied the course Moderne deutsche Literatur und Literaturdidaktik (Weiterbildungsseminar des Internationalen Konsortiums zum Studium der deutschen Sprache und Kultur) taught by Klaus Washik and Bettina Sieber.
Among the participants of the seminar were the teachers of the Department of the German and French Languages Natalia Klimkova and D. Bykova. The teachers appreciated the relevance of the text topics covered at the seminar, as well as the multiple opportunities for using texts at German language classes – from practice of oral and written speech to text analysis.
The Netzwerk D Consortium has modernized the LSI online platform and provided students and teachers with an access to the updated version, which allows distance studying and developing both group and individual educational tracks, with consideration to students of different levels of proficiency.
The 1st year students of the Institute of Foreign Languages have already tested the platform while doing exercises designed to build up vocabulary.
Student Diana Fedorova says:
“I enjoyed working on the platform; everything is designed in a way to make studying comfortable. I am particularly grateful to the developers for the ability to see translation of each unknown work just by clicking on it, as it considerably speeds up work and saves time since you do not have to look up the unknown word. The texts themselves are interesting, informative, so studying on the platform was a joy.”
The resources provided by the platform foster motivation for independent studies of text on relative topics, completing tasks, building up vocabulary and cultural knowledge, as well as developing professional skills in students of the program Teacher Education.
The Consortium continues to develop. Thus, on May 25 2022 the Consortium welcomed new partner universities and made the decision to continue the academic cooperation within educational courses for teachers and students. Educational courses, which will focus on linguistics in the upcoming academic year, will start in September 2022. Representatives of universities endorsed the idea to focus on linguistics and expressed their eagerness to continue the academic cooperation within the course in contemporary German-language literature.
