"I Expanded My Perception of the World"
Ekaterina Moseeva, a student of the Institute of Physical Education, Sport and Tourism, shared her impressions about studying on the exchange program at LAB University of Applied Sciences (Finland).
I was an exchange student at the LAB University of Applied Sciences, Lappeenranta, Finland, studying tourism and hospitality management.
Lappeenranta is located in Southeastern Finnish Karelia, close to St. Petersburg. Lappeenranta is a small cozy city with an airport and a university. The university is located not in the city center, but in the countryside. I got to the university in winter by bus, and by bike in spring. The university consists of two buildings - LAB and LUT. At LUT they study technical specialties, at LAB they study applied sciences.
Studying at LAB for me is 5 wonderful bright months of intercultural communication, learning Finnish culture, education, nature and meeting different students from all over the world. I befriended people from Europe who lived with me in a dorm. We studied together, supported each other, spent our free time, and traveled. During my studies, I managed to visit different countries.
In each subject, I had intercultural team projects. It gave me the opportunity to expand my perception of the world.
