PetrSU at the Arctic Winter School in Yakutsk

Yakutsk held an international Arctic winter school. 

Hybrid format let the school bring together more than 200 young researchers from five countries - Belarus, India, Kazakhstan, China and Russia. 

The School program included lectures and practical classes, outdoor cultural events, as well as the 1st Forum of Young Arctic Researchers, in which Ekaterina Serova, an employee of the Arctic Center of PetrSU, a lecturer at the Department of World History, Political Science and International Relations, took part as an expert. 

At the forum of young researchers, representatives of the North-Eastern Federal University, Murmansk State Technical University, Yugra State University, educational institutions of India and China shared their reports. 

Ekaterina Serova spoke about the Arctic projects planned for implementation by PetrSU, and also answered a number of questions on the possibilities for further cooperation.              

In addition to the main program on the premises of the North-Eastern Federal University, the participants of the Arctic School visited the Berdigestakh Secondary School named after A. Osipov, where they held career guidance meetings with students and discussion platforms with the teaching staff of the school. Berdigestakh secondary school is known for its fruitful international activities. The teachers of the school told the guests about the directions of international cooperation with secondary educational institutions in China, South Korea and Japan. 

The Arctic School coincided with the work of the 4th Northern Sustainable Development Forum, so the participants had a unique opportunity to join the forum events on climate change, the development of entrepreneurial and investment activities in the Russian Arctic, current trends and peculiarities of the Arctic tourism, problems of international legal regulation cooperation in the Arctic, issues of preserving and increasing human capital in the north and in the Arctic.
