Cosmonautics Day on April 12
April 12 - Cosmonautics Day - a significant date for the Department of Human and Animal Physiology, Pathophysiology, Histology.
On the eve of Cosmonautics Day, there were excursions to the laboratory of new methods of physiological research (headed by Alexandr Meigal) for the 3rd year students of the Medical Institute as part of the study of elective disciplines "Clinical Foundations of Adaptive Medicine" and "Clinical Physiology". Liudmila Gerasimova-Meigal, professor of the Department, conducted the meeting.
The laboratory has a complex for simulating microgravity conditions "MEDSIM". Scientific research of the Department of Human and Animal Physiology, Pathophysiology, Histology has long been connected with the problems of space physiology and medicine. Students learned about methods to simulate weightlessness and study the functions of the body, as well as the possible application of space physiology achievements in healthcare. The international students who study at the Institute of Medicine found it interesting and important to learn about the research of Russian scientists.
Students are involved in the study of space physiology as part of their research activities. Unique conditions of microgravity require firstly simultaneous monitoring and recording of many physiological parameters, and then their comparison to reveal connections and regularities. Therefore, a team is formed around the research, and certain conditions are created for the interaction of research participants and for the development of teamwork skills.
The research results of PetrSU scientists are of interest at conferences at various levels, and are published in highly ranked scientific journals.
