Malaysian INTI consortium outline cooperation plans with PetrSU
On April 7th, representatives of PetrSU held an online meeting with the Malaysian universities’ network INTI International University & Colleges. The meeting was a logical continuation of the previously initiated cooperation between the universities in the field of the English language as a medium of instruction. The Russian party was represented by Inna Kreneva, Director of the Institute of Foreign Languages, Elena Borzova, Professor of the Department of the English Language, Evgeniia Sokolova, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages for Technical and Natural Sciences, and Mariia Shemanaeva, Associate Professor of the Department of English Language.
INTI was presented by Jonathan Bryce, the Head of the IELTS Preparation Center, Zetty Zainal Abidin, Lecturer and Head of Program at INTI International University & Colleges, and Elizabeth Anne Pereira, the INTI lecturer. The meeting was co-organized by Alexey Kupriakhin from the PetrSU Department of International Projects and Program, as well as by Nasrah Ab. Ghanithe from INTI International Relations and Cooperation Center.
The meeting was dedicated to the issues of cooperation between universities in such areas as:
- English language as a medium of instruction,
- English for specific purposes,
- Learner-centered teaching,
- Foreign language teaching methodology.
During the meeting, the parties identified a specific area of intersection of scientific and practical interests, highlighting, among other things, joint publication activity, as well as academic mobility of lecturers and students.
Thus, as a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to create a new direction of academic mobility (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) and a new international platform for scientific interaction, which will be opened in the fall semester of 2023 with a joint experience and research exchange. Lecturers from the Institute of Foreign Languages at PetrSU will act as experts to share their experience in teaching English. Representatives from INTI and invited experts from partner universities will also participate in the session.
