Joint project of Petrozavodsk State University and L. N. Gumilev Eurasian National University
The first stage of the discussion project organized by the Department of Foreign Languages for Humanities at Petrozavodsk State University and the Department of Foreign Languages at the Faculty of International Relations of the L. N. Gumilev Eurasian National University (Kazakhstan) has been completed.
The collaboration between the universities began in 2019 with participation in numerous English language competitions held by the Department of Foreign Languages for Humanities and the Resource Center for Modern Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages. Bachelor's degree students from Petrozavodsk State University and the Eurasian National University also organized and conducted joint online briefings and discussions on current professionally-oriented topics.
This year, environmental education was chosen as a priority direction for joint work. Under the guidance of the Department of Foreign Languages for Humanities staff members - Irina Abramova, Elena Shishmolina, and Anastasia Ananina - as well as Anna Esengalievа, the head of the Department of Foreign Languages at the Faculty of International Relations (Eurasian National University), and first and second-year students of History of International Relations, International Relations (Petrozavodsk State University), and Oriental Studies (Eurasian National University), together with master's degree students and PhD students from Petrozavodsk State University, prepared videos dedicated to the most serious and significant environmental and climate problems in Karelia, Russia, and Kazakhstan. The materials were posted on a thematic YouTube channel. The next stage of the project will be to hold group discussions on the most relevant issues, with the final outcome being a teleconference between Russia and Kazakhstan.
