Academic Cooperation with the University of Swat (Pakistan)
PetrSU representatives and the Institute of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Hospitality Management of the University of Swat (Pakistan) held a joint seminar, during which students presented video reports on attractions of Russia and Pakistan, hotel and restaurant infrastructure, and tourism industry.
The 2nd year students of the Hotel Service program of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, under the guidance of the senior teacher of the Department of Foreign Languages for Humanities of the Institute of Foreign Languages Olga Nikolaeva, presented their course projects in the form of digital stories, which not only introduced their foreign peers to the prospects for tourism in the Republic of Karelia and Russia, but also answered all the questions providing further details.
There video products, a combination of presentations and video clips voiced by the students, allowed them to use their knowledge of the English language for professional purposes in the situation of real international communication.
In their turn, Pakistani students presented their reports on the tourist area of Gabin Jabba located in Swat Valley, famous for its picturesque meadows and forests, snow-peaked mountains and mineral springs. The area attracts both foreign and local tourists.
This event is a part of the joint project of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Foreign Languages for Humanities, and the Department of International Projects and Programs of PetrSU. The project facilitates exchange of experience within implementation of educational programs in tourism.
At the end of the seminar, the teachers discussed further plans for cooperation. The parties plan to write a joint paper for international scientific journal. Those present also discussed continuing the practice of holding joint seminars and conferences.
