The Deputy Director of the Arctic Center of PetrSU, lecturer of the Department of Foreign History Ekaterina Serova reported at the strategic session “BRICS+ through the eyes of youth”.
The priority areas for the development of cooperation between young researchers, aspiring entrepreneurs and representatives of non-governmental organizations of Russia, countries of Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America were discussed within the framework of Russia's chairmanship of BRICS in 2024. Co-organizer of the session was the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly.
It was indicated that BRICS+ cooperation in high latitudes is a qualitatively new format for Russia’s interaction with extraregional players in the Arctic. In the long run such cooperation could cover approximately 18 % of the territory of Russia and unite a big number of talented young people interested in the Arctic issues for implementing their project initiatives and approbating the results of scientific research.
International Municipal Forum of the BRICS+ countries is a large-scale event focused on the socio-economic development of the territories, establishing business and cultural ties, promoting investment projects, strengthening the cooperation between cities and municipalities in Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
The forum was first held in September 2019 with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
