International Students at the Meeting with Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
The annual meeting of the international students of PetrSU with representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Karelia was held in the Assembly Hall of the Theory Building of the Zilber Medical Institute.
The event was attended by more than 200 students of all years of studying and educational programs who had arrived to study at PetrSU from Jordan, Turkmenistan, China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other countries.
Marina Gvozdeva, the Head of the Directorate for International Affairs of PetrSU, introduced the guests and told the international students about the internal rules, fulfillment of the terms of the contract, and compliance with academic discipline.
The Head of the Registration and Visa Department of PetrSU Ilya Popov spoke about the rules for registering for migration, the deadlines for issuing and extending study visas and the timely receipt of new foreign passports.
The representative of the Directorate for Migration Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Republic of Karelia told students about the innovation, which came into force on January 11 2023. Starting from this year, international students studying full-time will be able to apply for a temporary residence permit for the purpose of obtaining education. Such a document will be issued for the entire period of study of an international student plus 180 days. Students were also reminded of the administrative sanctions that are provided for non-compliance with migration legislation and the reasons for canceling the study visas of international students.
In order to prevent illegal actions, the representative of the Center for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Karelia informed international students of PetrSU about the actions on social networks that can result in administrative and criminal sanctions. Students were also reminded of public national and religious organizations where they can turn for advice and assistance.
