New Service "International Student Assistant"

PetrSU developed a new service for international students of PetrSU. “International Student Assistant” is a web resource where a student can apply for a certificate of study, medical insurance, and also promptly notify university employees about undergoing a medical examination.

Ilya Popov, Head of the Registration and Visa Department:

“The idea for the website appeared in 2020. That year we launched a small project called “Visa Calculator”. It was developed for our international students who need a visa for staying in Russia: it helps to correctly calculate the required date for submitting documents to extend a study visa and informs about the need to replace a foreign passport.

Successful experience of interaction has shown that the number of such services can be increased.”

At the moment, “International Student Assistant” includes 6 services. For example, an international student can fill out an online form and notify the Registration and Visa Department employees of their arrival in Russia to ensure timely registration. This service is called "I've arrived." Another service provides a form for issuing study certificates - “I need a study certificate”. International students often require a certificate of study, including in English, in order to provide it to whom it may concern.

“We plan to expand the number of such services for our international students. Some of them are already in development. In the future, on the website it will be possible to find out the current norms of migration legislation of the Russian Federation, information about the main documents of an international student and the requirements for them, as well as find out news and announcements on this topic. This is a modern approach that allows us to speed up some processes for both students and university employees,” said Ilya Popov.
