Academic Mobility Program for the Spring Semester 2025
Academic mobility is the movement of students, teachers and researchers within the framework of educational or research activities between different educational institutions or research centers in order to exchange experience, gain new knowledge and skills, as well as to participate in joint projects.
To participate in the exchange program you need to pass the internal selection of PetrSU. The main selection criteria are academic performance (grades for all courses) and knowledge of a foreign language at a sufficient level for studying (English language skills are not required for studying in CIS countries).
First year and final year students are not eligible to participate in the exchange program.
To participate you need to:
Step 1: independently choose 1 university from the list of partner universities, where your study program (or similar) is available.
Step 2: coordinate this with the specialist of the Academic Mobility Department of PetrSU.
Step 3: collect the necessary package of documents for PetrSU internal selection:
Permission from your institute to participate in the program (sample in Dropbox);
Grade transcript (in Russian language, you can take it from the administration of your institute);
Copy of the passport (main page);
Language certificate (you should print out the language assessment sheet from Dropbox and ask your foreign language teacher to fill it in). For some countries one of the following certificates is required, which can be obtained online: TOEFL iBT, TOEFL PBT, IELTS. No language certificate is required for CIS countries.
Step 4: bring the collected documents to Anokhina 20, office 406.
Step 5: wait for the results of the internal selection of PetrSU.
You can choose only one university, as the number of places is limited. Based on the information provided, we make a student rating for each university. In case you are not accepted to the chosen university, we will offer you other options.
Step 6: after you have passed the internal selection of PetrSU, you need to collect and bring to the office of Academic Mobility Department a package of documents for external selection by the partner university. Each university has different requirements to the documents, so please familiarize yourself in advance with the requirements of the university where you would like to study.
All relevant information, required documents, brochures of partner universities and deadlines for admission to study at different universities are available in the VKontakte group and on Dropbox.
Tuition at the partner university is free of charge. The rest of the costs for accommodation (all universities provide a place in a dormitory), visa, insurance, air or train tickets, as well as transfers are paid by the student himself/herself. You can see approximate cost of living in different countries on the website.
University staff cannot advise you on visa issues, so the information of this kind should be requested at the consulate/visa center or from the coordinator of the host university.
Step 7: After you have been accepted to the partner university and have received your visa, do not forget to inform the administration of your institute at PetrSU that you are going to study as an exchange student. You will have to write an application to the director of the institute and submit a preliminary study plan (your study agreement). Based on this, an individual study plan will be drawn up with you. All questions regarding your studies/sessions etc. will be solved within your institute. As a rule, students take a “double” session, it all depends on how much the teachers are ready to “re-credit” you disciplines that you will study at the partner university.
