International Meeting

The team of the “Russian Club for International Students” has welcomed students of Petrozavodsk State University and local schools in a “speed friending” event. The meeting involved participants from India, Jordan, Syria and Russia who are studying at the Zilber Medical Institute, the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, the Institute of Foreign Languages, the Institute of Economics and Law, and the Institute of Physical Education, Sport and Tourism.

The event was organized and conducted by Anastasiya Amelina and Olga Martusevich, teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages and Russian as a Foreign Language for Medical Specialties of the Zilber Medical Institute.

A speed friending activity enables its participants to get to know each other and discuss suggested topics within a certain time limit. For the members of the “Russian Club for International Students”, the main goal is to help international students overcome the language barrier, which will then encourage them to practice their speaking skills and find new friends. This is also important for the students' smooth sociocultural adaptation in a foreign-language environment.

During the activity, the participants from different countries had lively conversations on various topics and made new friends. The positive feedback shows that the guests enjoyed and greatly appreciated the time spent together.

The organizers thank all the participants for their active involvement and are looking forward to new meetings in the “Russian Club for International Students”!
