Meeting of PetrSU International Students with Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
The university employees talked about communication channels that can be very useful for international students: the Telegram channel "PetrSU International", the VKontakte group and the website "International Student Assistant".
The main part of the meeting was devoted to the requirements for the main documents of an international student: an international passport, a migration card, a student visa, registration at the place of stay, medical insurance, certificates of passing a medical examination, mandatory state fingerprinting and photography. Representatives of the migration service emphasized the importance of independently monitoring the expiration dates of migration documents and timely submission for their extension.
The migration service employees paid special attention to the possibility of obtaining a temporary residence permit for the purpose of obtaining an education (RVPO). It offers many advantages for an international student: obtaining one permit document for the entire period of study without the need for an annual extension, free hospital care, exemption from an annual paid medical commission, as well as the possibility of obtaining a residence permit after successful completion of the course.
A representative of the Center for Combating Extremism drew the students' attention to the need to critically look at the information posted on social networks and to be vigilant when communicating with strangers.
Thus, the meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and employees working with international students of the university made it possible to discuss important aspects of the stay and study of foreign citizens in Russia. Such regular meetings contribute to more effective adaptation of international students and help them better navigate issues of migration legislation.
