On June 2–6, the city of Trebinje (Republika Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina) hosted the International Scientific and Educational Program "Balkan Dialogue – 2025", organized by the A.M. Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Support Fund.

The event was attended by over 35 young specialists from Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey and other countries in the region – students, postgraduates, researchers, journalists and representatives of public organizations working in the field of international relations and public diplomacy.

This year, the "Balkan Dialogue" program was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Accords, which played a key role in resolving the conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The participants discussed the effectiveness of the system that emerged after 1995 in the context of modern challenges, as well as changes in the regional security architecture and Russia's role in the region.

In addition to the official events, the program participants were given the opportunity to get acquainted with the materials of the analytical report on security in Balkans, to participate in a discussion on the strategic presence of the US and EU in the region, in the simulation game Concert of Nations, in a discussion of Srdjan Dragojevic's film "Beautiful Villages Burn Beautifully".

At sectional sessions on subregional cooperation and political processes in the Republic of Srpska, experts from Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Croatia, and Italy shared their assessments of post-conflict governance systems.

Nikolay Moskvin, whose research interests are related to the study of the international situation in the Balkans, the role of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska in the region (headed by Associate Professor of the Department of Political and Social Sciences, PhD in History E.I. Chernenkova), became a participant in the program as a result of a competitive selection, presenting an essay on the topic "The Balkan Region as a Laboratory of International Peacekeeping: Lessons of the 20th - 21st Centuries".

“The program turned out to be very eventful. We became listeners to very interesting lectures by specialists who have a deep knowledge of the topic. I would especially like to note the speech of the invited guest of the program, lawyer Goran Petronijevic, legal adviser to the International Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, president of the Center for the Restoration of International Law.

Participation provided invaluable knowledge and an in-depth understanding of the specifics of the Balkan region, new interesting acquaintances and practice of the Serbian language. The program participants, young people from different countries, had the opportunity for informal communication, in which they exchanged information about their traditions and cultural characteristics. Communicating with the Serbs, I actively practiced my knowledge of the Serbian language. The Serbs turned out to be very friendly, hospitable and sincerely loving Russia and the Russian people. The words "Brothers forever" were heard very often.

– Nikolay shared.

Based on the results of participation in the "Balkan Dialogue - 2025" program, 2nd-year student of the "International Relations" program of the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences of PetrSU Nikolay Moskvin received a certificate.
