Exchange Students from Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan have begun their studies at PetrSU
The beginning of the academic year is always a special time for any educational institution. This year, Petrozavodsk State University welcomes not only international first-year students but also senior-year exchange students. Students from three international partner universities will have a unique opportunity not only to master new disciplines but also to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Russian higher education.
During the fall semester, the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology at PetrSU welcomed four talented female students from neighboring countries. As part of a long-term collaboration with Baranovichi State University, three students from Belarus arrived, and a representative from the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai joined us. Partnerships with these educational institutions have been successfully developing for many years through bilateral academic mobility.
This year, PetrSU renewed its fruitful collaboration with the Tajik National University. As a result, two female students were enrolled at the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technology of PetrSU, eagerly gaining new experience in information systems and artificial intelligence technologies.
The hospitable welcome of international students has become a long-standing tradition at Petrozavodsk State University. They were provided with comfortable dormitory accommodations, providing all the necessary conditions for living and preparing for their studies. University staff promptly assisted with all necessary paperwork, ensuring the timely start of the educational process for all students.
The adaptation of international students is supported by the international student association "Neighbors." Volunteers provide comprehensive assistance to newcomers:
meeting them at the train station/airport and accompanying them to the dormitory;
assisting with dormitory check-in;
they introduce students to university rules;
conduct tours of Petrozavodsk;
organize cultural events;
assist with medical examinations;
assist with obtaining SIM cards.
The volunteers of this association include students from PetrSU, secondary and other higher education institutions, and schoolchildren in Petrozavodsk. We are very pleased to have such responsive and caring people at our educational institutions, always ready to help. The volunteers' activities not only help international students adapt more quickly to their new environment but also contribute to strengthening mutual understanding between different cultures.
