Lecture by the Advisor to the Representative Office of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Petrozavodsk
The meeting was held as part of the seminar courses "Modern Foreign Policy Strategy of Russia" (instructor M.A. Pimenova) and "World Politics" (PhD, Associate Professor S.S. Rozhneva). The lecture focused on a comprehensive analysis of the structure, functions, and personnel policy of the central office of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the first part of her presentation, Olesya Stefanovna covered in detail the modern aspects of the diplomatic service, examining in detail the formal and functional division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' departments. The section on the practical aspects of diplomatic work was of particular interest to the students, leading to a lively and insightful discussion. The students' professional interest extended far beyond the introductory material: their questions touched on the profound legal and judicial aspects of a diplomat's work, including international law, diplomatic immunities, and consular protection.
Students asked questions about the specifics of working in various regions of the world, career advancement, and everyday life in a different cultural environment.
As a reminder, the university has a Diplomatic Club of PetrSU, led by O.S. Dikun. Students have the opportunity to discuss current events in global politics and the life of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a current adviser to the Representative Office of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Petrozavodsk.
The Department of Political and Social Sciences expresses its gratitude to Olesya Stefanovna Dikun.
