International Academic Mobility of PetrSU Students
The Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences demonstrated strong performance in both incoming and outgoing mobility during the spring semester 2026. Our students successfully complete educational programs at leading international partner universities, gaining unique academic and cultural experience.
Two second-year students (major in "International Relations with Chinese as a Second Foreign Language") from the Institute were given the opportunity to study at Xi'an International University, China;
Another second-year student majoring in "Social Work" is currently studying at Osh State University, Kyrgyzstan.
Two students from the Institute of Philology and the Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences participated in a short-term winter program at Myongji University (South Korea). This program allowed them to deeply immerse themselves in the Korean language environment and experience Seoul's culture. They were able to not only improve their language skills by attending classes at one of Korea's leading universities but also experience the country from the inside—from historic palaces to modern technology hubs—gaining experiences that will become an important part of their personal and academic history.
A student from the Institute of Foreign Languages joined Myongji University's online language exchange program. This is an excellent opportunity to gain international experience without leaving the city. As part of the program, they will be able to practice Korean in live conversations with native speakers, learn about the country's culture through dialogue with peers, and participate in collaborative online projects, expanding their professional horizons in the digital environment.
Two more PetrSU students are currently being selected for an internship program at Qingdao University (China). The program will not only allow you to study Chinese but also fully immerse yourself in the country's linguistic and cultural environment: it includes intensive language courses, lectures on Chinese history and economics, and tours of key cultural and business centers.
PetrSU students are proving their high academic standing on the international stage. Several PetrSU students have been nominated for prestigious international scholarships for the 2026/27 academic year:
Eight students have been awarded the Hungarian Government Scholarship (Stipendium Hungaricum), which opens the doors of Hungarian universities to education in English or Hungarian;
Five students have been awarded the Chinese Government Scholarship, which provides the opportunity to study at leading Chinese universities.
These nominations were made possible thanks to their serious academic work, scientific publications, and active participation in university life. The competitive applications were carefully prepared with the support of PetrSU's Directorate for International Affairs. The host universities will now review all applications received.
Petrozavodsk State University values its partnership with all international universities. All international trips are a clear result of PetrSU's systematic efforts to develop international student mobility. They not only enrich our students' personal educational experiences but also significantly contribute to strengthening the university's academic reputation internationally, preparing specialists capable of working in a global context.
Applications for exchange programs for the fall 2026 semester will open very soon. Follow the news in the official "PetrSU Exchange Programs" group – don't miss your chance to become part of the international educational community.
