PetrSU at the 20th Russian-Finnish Cultural Forum in Tula
Member of the FENNICA center, Associate Professor Aleksandr Tolstikov (PetrSU) and the member of the international research and expert board, Professor Emeritus of PetrSU, Professor Timo Vihavainen (Helsinki) took part in the 20th Russian-Finnish Cultural Forum in Tula.
Negotiations with the representatives of Karelian Educational Society Eeva-Kaisa Linna and Senni Timonen (Helsinki) were dedicated to the launching of the joint project “There are many different Karelias / On monta eri Karjalaa”. The project is aimed at the dissemination of contemporary scientific knowledge of the common history of Russia and Finland through open lectures in both countries, translation of relevant research literature from Finnish into the Russian language and vice versa, organization of Russian-Finnish seminars of historians, joint academic research.
The project plans for 2019-2020 already include translation into the Russian language the book by Pekka Vaara Belomorye 1918. When World War Came to Karelia (Jyväskylä: Docendo, 2018) and a series of educational lectures for Russian and Finnish audience on the key issues of the common history of our countries. The colleagues also discussed possibility of holding another Russian-Finnish seminar for historians in 2021.
