Petrozavodsk –Tubingen: Experience and Prospects for Cooperation
Within the Days of Germany in Petrozavodsk, which this year were dedicated to the 30-year anniversary of twin-city relations of our city with Tubingen, the Boiling Point coworking center hosted roundtable discussion “Petrozavodsk – Tubingen: experience and prospects for cooperation”. Among the participants of the event were teachers and students of the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences headed by the Director of the Institute, Professor, Doctor of Historical Sciences Sergey Verigin.
The acting head of the Department of Social Studies and Social Work, Candidate of Social Sciences Yulia Petrovskaya talked about the “Role of the university in social space of the region”. In her report, she outlined the main areas of involvement of the Institute’s initiative group in the implementation of the Flagship University Development Program. The Director of the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences Sergey Verigin and the Associate Professor of the Department of World History, Political Studies and International Relations, Candidate of Historical Sciences Elena Chernenkova took part in the panel discussion “Current state of the twin-city relations”.
The students of the Institute studying on the programs “Political Science”, “Social Science”, “Social Work” read the archival records on the 30 years of history of the relations, learned about the experience of collaboration between the twin-cities in studying practices of local management, civic participation in social welfare.
The official delegation from the University of Tubingen included Dr. Rolf Frankenberger who reported on potential areas for further cooperation with a focus on broader involvement of students of the two universities in joint project activities and research.
