Start of the International Interdisciplinary Project UniverCity
The project was supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and is targeted for students of political, social, economic and legal sciences.
The project will launch in March 2020 at the premises of the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences in cooperation with representatives of the Institute of Political Science of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences of Eberhard Karls University (Tubingen, Germany).
In the framework of the interdisciplinary project, the students of PetrSU and the University of Tubingen under the guidance of teachers of the two universities will:
1. Analyze the purpose of higher school in modern society;
2. Study the role and place of universities in public life of the twin-cities in solving social issues of local communities, as well as in facilitating the efficient civil dialogue and intersectoral cooperation.
Comparative analysis of the practices of the two universities will help define the most efficient and prospective forms of cooperation between the universities and local communities of the twin-cities.
The project will involve start-up sessions, empirical studies, joint project activities of the students of PetrSU and the University of Tubingen under the guidance of the teachers of the two universities, public presentation of the results at the Summer school, the publication of the findings in a foreign journal.
The organizers of the project invite students of the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences and the Institute of Economics and Law of PetrSU interested in the topics, who have or wish to improve their skills of analyzing social processes at the local level and have proficiency in the English language sufficient for participation in academic discussion.
The selection process will be carried out on the basis of motivation letters written in Russian or English, and by the results of the open contest of essays written in the English language.
