The National Museum of Karelia hosted the presentation of the book In Search of Socialist El Dorado: North American Finns in the Soviet Karelia in the 1930s.
The authors of the book are Aleksey Golubev, Associate Professor of the University of Houston (USA) and Irina Takala, Associate Professor of the Department of World History, Political Studies and International Relations of Petrozavodsk State University.
First, this book was published in 2014 in the English language by the publishing houses of the University of Michigan (USA) and the University of Manitoba (Canada). The present edition is the Russian translation.
The book is based on archives, newspapers, and books, as well as interviews with North American immigrants.
