Pharmacy Students Visited the National Library of Karelia
The 4th year students of the Pharmacy program together with the Associate Professor of the Department of Pharmacology, Pharmacy Management and Economics Daria Varganova visited the Rare Books Section of the National Library of the Republic of Karelia. The visit took place within the Analytical Toxicology course.
For the students, the employees of the sector have selected antique books on analytical and clinical toxicology, toxicological chemistry.
The students learned what documents regulated the circulation of toxic and potent substances in Russia in the 14th – 18th centuries, what methods were employed for intoxication diagnosis and chemicotoxicological analysis. The visitors of the Library took particular interest in the medical cases of intoxication with the description of their diagnosis with the use of toxicological examination covered in the antique books and reference materials.
