Petrozavodsk Welcomed Mavis Mulenga of the Embassy of the Republic of Zambia
The Institute of Medicine of PetrSU hosted a meeting with Education Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in Moscow Mavis Mulenga.
The Attaché visited our university to meet the Zambian students who study at the Institute.
Currently, the Institutes of the Flagship University of Karelia (Institute of Medicine, Institute of Biology, Ecology and Agricultural Technologies, Institute of Economics and Law) and the Preparatory Faculty have 14 students from this African country. The first Zambian students came to study at the Institute of Medicine in 2015. Now we have 10 medicine students who study the programs General Medicine, Pediatrics, and Pharmacy.
At the meeting with the representatives of the Institute headed by the Director Alexander Balashov and the students, Ms. Mulenga focused on the education, academic performance and motivation of the students, as well as their living conditions. The administration of the Institute informed the Attaché about the educational process, facilities, and the students’ achievements, while the students shared their impressions of studying at PetrSU.
The visit continued with a meeting between Ms. Mulenga and Alexander Balashov who discussed the benefits of studying at PetrSU, selection, and enrollment of Zambian students, and prospects for broadening the cooperation. Among other participants of the meeting were Elena Titova, the Head of the Preparatory Faculty, and Ekaterina Ivanova, the Head of the Protocol Division of the Academic Mobility Department.
At the end of the visit, the Attaché was taken on a tour around the Accreditation and Simulation Center of the Institute of Medicine that made an impression with its facilities for training specialists of the highest expertise.
