PetrSU Student Won the Competition of Eton College
PetrSU held a competition among students of the Institute of Philology and the Institute of Foreign Languages for the position of a Russian Language Assistant at Eton College (UK) in the upcoming year.
The competition consisted of two stages. First, students submitted their CVs and essays to the coordinators in Eton, then candidates were interviewed. Of 19 students of PetrSU, 6 candidates have been selected for the second stage. English colleagues were impressed by the applications of our students. Joe Burrows, Head of Modern Languages and Cultures, commended our students for their passion for both languages and culture and a superlative command of English.
The winner of the competition is the 4th year student of the Institute of Philology Anna Bushmina.
Anna shared her experience:
“I’ve learned about the competition for the position of a Russian Language Assistant in Eton in the PetrSU Exchange Programs group and immediately decided to apply. First of all, upon my graduation, I’ve planned to work as a Russian as a foreign language teacher, and the program in Eton meets my plans and aspirations for the years ahead. Secondly, this is an opportunity for me to gain international experience and a better understanding of students and methods of teaching Russian abroad. It is also a challenge: I have to face up to the difficulties, be determined, and as a reward learn skills essential for my further professional development. I knew that I had relevant experience and education. Before applying, I was very nervous as I browsed the site of Eton College, looked up on the Internet recommendations on applying, analyzed my profile to be sure I qualify for the program. Two days after I applied, I was invited for an interview.”
“We congratulate Anna and wish her success,” say the teachers of PetrSU.
Under the agreement between PetrSU and Eton College, this competition will be held annually.
