The New Academic Year Begins With a New Monograph
«A modern science fiction author looks at passing cars through the window, at people rushing to work and thinking about the evening groceries as well as their children who need to be taken to the sports section... That's the time when the author hits on the idea of a new book. The book helps a reader keep his mind off, forget about work and imagine for a moment that miracles are possible in a city where he lives...», said Elena Safron.
The plot of the monograph Poetics of Urban Fantasy focuses on the image of the city. The author refers to the works of writers of the 21st century, mainly, Maria and Sergey Dyachenko, Sergey Lukyanenko, Max Fry, Andrey Belyanin, and to those who laid the foundations of the future subgenre of the Russian literature in the 19th century – Mikhail Lermontov, Osip Senkovsky, Alexander Pushkin, Vladimir Titov.
The cover of the monograph is designed with the author’s drawing.
The monograph is of interest both to literary scholars who study contemporary Russian fantasy and to students interested in science fiction.
