Anatoly Voronin, the Rector of PetrSU, signed the Agreement on cooperation with National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Academic relations between these two universities are supposed to be implemented within the framework of exchange programs for the teaching staff and students.

The idea of a scientific dialogue between Petrozavodsk and Athens belonged to Professor Tatiana Malchukova, who has repeatedly participated in international conferences at the invitation of the Greek side. Due to her efforts, PetrSU organized the teaching of the Greek language, literature and culture. At present the ideas of this teacher and mentor live in the work of Anna Nilova, Anna Skoropadskaya, Elena Kaurova and Evgeniya Litinskaya, lecturers from the Department of Classic Philology, Russian Literature and Journalism, Institute of Philology.

The academic year 2020/2021 was marked by a number of joint online events that united Petrozavodsk and Athens phylologists: “Teleconference Russia – Greece” on the Slavic Studies in Greece and Greek Studies in Russia, “My Pushkin” poetry evening, “Ancient Greek Tragedy in Modern Cultural Space on the Euripides’ "Medea", a seminar conducted with Greek colleagues, “Easter in Greece and Russia: Orthodox Traditions” online meeting, “Dostoevsky’s Art of Declamation in the New Greek Translation” delivered by Evgeniya Litinskaya. Students of the Russian branch of the University of Athens made reports at the 74th Russian (with international participation) Scientific Conference of Students and Young Scientists, traditionally organized in PetrSU. Teachers and graduate students of the University of Athens took part in the VI International Conference in memory of Professor Tatiana Malchukova "Russia and Greece: Dialogues of Cultures".
