Using Green Technologies: New Challenges and Opportunities
International retreat under the CBC Karelia project KA5041 "Green Nature Based Solutions in Tourism to reduce negative impact on the environment" was held on March 23, 2021.
The meeting was aimed at studying the best practices of applying modern energy-saving and environmentally friendly equipment in tourism in Finland and the Republic of Karelia.
The meeting provided an opportunity to communicate and exchange experience with Finnish colleagues via Zoom. Students majoring in Construction also participated in the retreat under the guidance of Liudmila Devyatnkova, Elena Emelyanova and Yulia Nikonova, Associate Professors of the Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences.
Sergey Koshelev, the Head of the project "Green Nature Based Solutions in Tourism to Reduce Negative Impact on the Environment", presented the outcomes of the implementation of the project at the facilities of the Urozero educational and health center.
Sergei Koshelev told about the importance of the energy initial audit in the Urozero educational and health center, which allowed to identify shortcomings and explain the unreasonably high energy costs.
His report was comprehensiblefor all participants, including those who had no experience in the design or operation of building engineering services, contained a lot of analytical information and data on the economic effect of the applied technologies.
The excursion featured the installed equipment in the Urozero educational and health center. The Students were impressed by the outcomes and analysis of thermal imaging cameras of the buildings. Study of building temperature behavior provides future designers and builders with valuable experience for proper and energy-saving object construction.
The work carried out and planned will result not only in preservation of the Urozero unique nature and improved comfort for residents, but also have an economic effect: within a year of work under the changed engineering conditions, electricity costs have decreased by almost 800,000 rubles per year. This is a compelling argument for introducing energy saving measures.
Karelian and Finnish specialists told about green technologies and equipment, features of selection and operation, benefits of using. Specific examples of the application of green technologies with economic assessment methods have been given.
