The online meeting on Easter in Greece and Russia: Orthodox Traditions convened teachers and students of the Department of Classic Philology, Russian Literature and Journalism of PetrSU and Department of Russian Philology and Slavic Studies of the National University of Athens.

The online meeting on Easter in Greece and Russia: Orthodox Traditions convened teachers and students of the Department of Classic Philology, Russian Literature and Journalism of PetrSU and Department of Russian Philology and Slavic Studies of the National University of Athens.

Greek colleagues opened the meeting: Russian language teacher Tatiana Borisova and teacher of Ethnography Stamatis Zohios. Evgenia Litinskaya, Associate Professor of the Department of Classic Philology, Russian Literature and Journalism moderated the meeting.

Students studying Russian language in the University of Athens made the reports on customs of celebration of Easter in Greece. The participants of the conference have learnt about preparations for Easter.

During the excursion, 1st year students specializing in Classic Philology of the Institute of Philology of PetrSU talked about Orthodox churches in Petrozavodsk.

The tradition of egg painting and decorating in Holy Thursday merging with Sallust reading was represented in the video prepared by 2nd year students-classics. Polina Fetisova, 2nd year student majoring in Classic Philology, delivered a talk in Greek about Palm Sunday.

The participants from both sides look forward to such meetings taking place on site.
