Institute of Northern European Studies of PetrSU and Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences: Cooperation Plan

The Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences held a meeting with Ekaterina Serova, the representative of the Institute of Northern European Studies of PetrSU, and Anton Kovshov, the Head of the Arctic Center of the Institute. During the meeting, the researchers discussed plans for joint work on the participation of the Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences in UARCTIC, the international program.

UARCTIC is an international network of universities, colleges, research institutes and other educational and scientific organizations in the North.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the main ways of interaction between the Institute and UARCTIC in the field of scientific research, staff exchange and increasing the competence of specialists in the field of Arctic processes.

Some key issues were also identified, such as the main activities that the Institute can offer to foreign partners, and a long-term plan for the development of cooperation.

Thus, at the first stage of cooperation, it is planned to conduct training seminars for students of our university with the partner universities, joint participation in conferences and organization of an international hackathon on urban studies.

During the educational seminars, it is planned to conduct active lectures and practical work in the field of landscape architecture and urban ecology.

The international hackathon will become a significant event for partner universities. During the hackathon, students from different cities are to work on the proposed cases for several days, create design solutions, and work on redevelopment projects. The final event will be an online and offline presentation of prepared projects.

Such cooperation will improve the competencies of both PetrSU students and students of partner universities, and will contribute to the establishment of educational and scientific contacts between the participants.
