Visit of the Delegation of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China

PetrSU hosted a delegation of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in St. Petersburg.

The delegation included Wang Wenli, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in St. Petersburg; Liu Zhomei, Consul for Education of the People's Republic of China in St. Petersburg; Xu Jialiang, Attache of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in St. Petersburg.

PetrSU Rector Anatoly Voronin met with representatives of the delegation.

Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Konstantin Tarasov, Head of the Directorate for International Affairs Marina Gvozdeva, Head of the Academic Mobility Department Ekaterina Ivanova took part in the meeting.

The parties discussed the prospects for the development of scientific and educational cooperation, academic mobility; exchange of information of mutual interest.

Guests of the university got acquainted with the scientific and innovative developments of the Center for Artificial Intelligence of PetrSU, Youth Innovation Park of the University, and visited the Aquaculture Research Center of PetrSU. The center’s specialists gave guests a tour of the aquarium and recirculation systems, introduced them to the conditions for keeping aquatic organisms in artificial conditions and the peculiarities of organizing the operation of closed water supply installations.

Representatives of the PRC delegation visited the Chinese language classroom, which opened this year, and talked with students studying Chinese. Not only were the students able to ask questions, but they also sang a song in Chinese.

The first admission of students to the program «Linguistics. Russian as a foreign language. Chinese» took place in 2022. Currently there are 20 students studying at the program. Among the teachers there is a native Chinese speaker.

“It's nice to know that Chinese is studied at Petrozavodsk State University. Students have only been studying the language for one year, but have achieved very good results”, - praised Wang Wenli, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in St. Petersburg.

PetrSU conducts fruitful cooperation with universities in China, including Anhui Normal University, Fuzhou University, Northeast Petroleum University, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Xi'an International University.
