The delegation was headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation Botirzhon Asadov.

The delegation also included the Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in St. Petersburg Alisher Babayev, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation Mekhriddin Khairiddinov and the First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation Bobur Karimov.

On behalf of PetrSU, the meeting was attended by the First Vice-Rector of PetrSU Sergey Korzhov, the Head of the Department for International Affairs Marina Gvozdeva, and the press service of PetrSU.

This is the first visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation to the Republic of Karelia.

Botirjon Asadov:

“I really liked your region. I saw Karelia with my own eyes; it is more beautiful than they write on the Internet. It is especially beautiful here in winter. Warmth and comfort here are created by the hospitality of the residents of Karelia.

Everything here pleasantly surprises me: I was told the amazing history of the creation of Karelia; I visited the National Museum, Petrozavodsk State University, walked along the embankment, the streets, and liked the street exercise equipment.

Karelia is a republic with enormous potential: the timber industry, mechanical engineering, machine tool manufacturing, mining and processing of minerals, tourism, aquaculture, and education are developed here.”

After the meeting with the Rector of PetrSU, Botirzhon Asadov met with the students from the Republic of Uzbekistan studying at the Zilber Medical Institute.

“We maintain contacts with the students from Uzbekistan studying here. This is not only a requirement imposed on diplomats by the leadership from Tashkent, to be near our students, our citizens is answering the call of the heart,” emphasized the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation.
