Internship at the University of Athens
A student of the Institute of Philology, program Classical Philology, completed an internship at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Graduate student of the Department of Classical Philology, Russian Literature and Journalism of the Institute of Philology of PetrSU Tatiana Cheremovskaya won a scholarship within the ΘΥΕΣΠΑ “Greek Language and Culture” program.
“For me, any language is an incredible thing to which you should be devoted wholeheartedly. Therefore I decided to discover Greek through its culture: I started listening to music, watching TV series and baking buns, and later I began reading Kazantzakis. Since then, I can’t imagine myself without Greek chanson and the Greek language in general,” shared Tatyana.
However it was not so difficult for Tatiana to talk to native Greek speakers as to fellow foreign students. Greek students noted the student’s excellent pronunciation and were often surprised that she was not local. This and many other funny incidents helped Tatiana in learning the language.
The student notes she was fully supported by her relatives and lecturers of the Department of Classical Philology of PetrSU Evgenia Litinskaya, Anna Skoropadskaya and Elena Kaurova.
People from different parts of the world, whom Tatiana met at the university, also helped her to learn the language and assimilate the culture.
Tatiana says: “I still communicate with a Spanish girl Rofio who was sitting next to me in the classroom. She also studies classical philology, so when we encountered new words, we looked for their origins in the Classical Greek. A girl from Mexico treated me to national food, and I still discuss Greek rap with my friend from Scotland. My love for the Greek people has become even stronger after this trip. I love the Greeks for their understanding of life and the way it is reflected in their language”.
