PetrSU at the Forum of Sinologists
The scientific and practical conference “Forum of Sinologists: Current Issues in the Training of Chinese Language Specialists in Russia” was held on November 24-26 and was organized by the Association for the Advancement of Sinology. The Forum is the most representative congress of specialists who are professionally involved in the Chinese language in Russia. This year the representatives of Petrozavodsk State University took part in the forum for the first time.
On November 24-25, the conference was held online. During these days more than 50 specialists from Russia and China presented new techniques, manuals and shared their experiences; representatives of universities spoke about training programs.
PetrSU students Viktoria Boriskina, Alevtina Yakovleva, Apollinaria Svidskaya and Yaroslav Zalessky, who study at the Institute of Philology, program “Russian as a foreign language, Chinese”, also took part in the forum as listeners.

On November 26, the forum continued offline in Moscow in the Greenwood business park. There was an exhibition of universities and educational companies from different cities of Russia who train specialists in Chinese. A fair of vacancies and internships from large companies (Sberbank, Awatera, etc.), round tables, discussions on methods of teaching Chinese, translation, business with China, including discussions with honorary guests of the forum, leading orientalists of Russia and authors of the most famous textbooks on the Chinese language were organized for the forum participants. In addition, representatives of publishing houses with the most current educational literature were present at the forum, and a number of master classes on Chinese culture were organized.
This year as part of the educational exhibition of the forum, the teachers of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and Applied Linguistics Zhao Linlin and Sofya Khayainen presented Petrozavodsk State University and the bachelor's degree program "Russian as a foreign language, Chinese language". The program aroused interest among the forum participants; teachers exchanged contacts with representatives of various universities and expressed hope for cooperation.

Here we not only exchanged experiences with colleagues, but also met and exchanged contacts with the First Secretary of the Education Department of the Chinese Embassy in the Russian Federation, Mrs. Deng Ying, met such outstanding sinologists and authors of wonderful manuals as Maria Rukodelnikova, Tatyana Guruleva, Ulyana Kurtб etc. We are proud to have represented PetrSU and our area of training, to have attended such a serious conference, and we express our gratitude to the President of the Association for the Advancement of Sinology Alena Pavlova for the organization and the opportunity to take part in the forum,

The organizer of the conference is the Association for the Advancement of Sinology, which is an association of the Russian professional community of sinologists. Since 2018, the association has been organizing specialized international sinology conferences, creating and maintaining databases for sinologists, organizing meetings with famous experts and professional competitions, analyzing the region and the field of sinology in Russia, and creating specialized resources in scientific and business areas.
