On the Development of Cooperation between PetrSU and Dalian Polytechnic University (China)

An online meeting was held between representatives of the Institute of Philology of Petrozavodsk State University, the Institute of Foreign Languages and the Institute of International Education of Dalian Polytechnic University (China), dedicated to issues of strengthening cooperation and new forms of interaction.

The Director of the Institute of Philology Oksana Abramova and the Head of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and Applied Linguistics Andrey Kotov attended the meeting.

Dalian Polytechnic University was represented by the members of the Russian Language Faculty of the Institute of Foreign Languages, Professor Jiang Jun, Associate Professor, foreign expert of the Faculty N.S. Kasyuk, Associate Professor Hu Jiadong, as well as employees of the Institute of International Education - Associate Professor Zhang Xinyu and Lu Na.

Representatives of the Institute of International Education of Dalian Polytechnic University expressed interest in implementing joint educational programs in the “double degree” format, as well as their readiness to assist in opening a center for Chinese language and culture at PetrSU. In addition, colleagues from China offer long-term and short-term training programs in Chinese philology for PetrSU graduates who have successfully completed the educational program “Russian as a Foreign Language, Chinese Language”.

In 2023, interaction between universities successfully developed both in the field of educational activities and in the scientific field. In February, students and teachers of the Russian Language Faculty of Dalian Polytechnic University took part in the opening of the Chinese Language Room at PetrSU.

In the summer, a joint online language school was held for students of two universities. In September, colleagues from Dalian took part in the latest international conference “Current problems of teaching Russian as a foreign language in modern education”, held by the Institute of Philology since 2019. The conference proceedings were recently published and presented to the colleagues from China during the meeting.

The parties agreed to prepare an agreement on cooperation between universities and the develop academic exchange programs. The Institute of Philology considers the agreement as a new step in the development of cooperation, especially relevant in light of the February Presidential Address to the Federal Assembly, which emphasized the importance of promoting the Russian language in the world.
