Work of the Language Club

21 November 2024
The Russian-Chinese conversation club, organized within the framework of the cooperation agreement between PetrSU and the Petrozavodsk State Conservatory named after A.K. Glazunov, continues its work actively and in a new format.

The next meeting was organized by teachers of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and Applied Linguistics of PetrSU O.V. Semenova and I.N. Dyachkova and teachers of the conservatory M.A. Rudina and E.A. Velikanova. This time, students of the Petrozavodsk Conservatory came to visit PetrSU, where in the living room of the Humanitarian Park, the third-year students studying "Russian as a Foreign Language, Chinese Language" organized the game "What? Where? When?". The goal of the game was to introduce students from China to the traditions of Russia: they learned about the culture of tea drinking, customs associated with holidays, household utensils and much more.

Such events not only broaden the horizons of students and increase interest in the culture and history of the country of the studied language, but also contribute to the unification and establishment of contacts between Russian and Chinese students. In addition, such meetings are an important practical and methodological element of the educational process for future teachers of Russian as a foreign language, since already at the stage of preparation for the upcoming pedagogical practice they contribute to the formation of the necessary professional competencies.

Third-year student Yaroslavna Kuzmina, who together with Daniil Ulyanov held this meeting, shared her impressions:

“Our group held the game "What? Where? When?" for students from China who study at the conservatory. This event was an excellent opportunity for all of us to get to know each other better, as well as to study Russian and Chinese culture in more depth. When the first guests entered the meeting place with smiles, I immediately realized that it would be a wonderful evening.

Students from China actively asked questions, and we tried to convey information about our culture to them as clearly and simply as possible. The guys were very welcoming. Their eyes shone with enthusiasm and interest in Russian culture. I am very grateful to them for this! In conclusion, we had a small tea party, where we remembered Chinese and Russian songs.

I believe that our event was successful and fulfilled its main goal - to strengthen friendship with students from China, to help them study Russian culture more deeply. I learned how to convey the necessary information to people for whom Russian is a foreign language more easily and effectively. I hope that such events will become regular and we will be able to continue sharing our knowledge and gain new experience in return.

The students of the Petrozavodsk Conservatory wanted to continue the series of games "What? Where? When?" and introduce Russian students to the culture and traditions of China.
