PetrSU Delegation at the Forum of Sinologists

The forum has been held annually since 2022 under the auspices of the Association for the Development of Sinology and is a large-scale scientific-practical and scientific-educational conference, within the framework of which representatives of all stages of training and development of specialists with the Chinese language come together to participate in open discussions, lectures, master classes on topical issues of training sinologists: teachers of public and private schools, teachers and departments of the Chinese language and specialized areas of universities in Russia, scientists, specialists with the Chinese language from various business areas, representatives of Chinese companies and universities.

The Institute of Philology of PetrSU was represented at the forum by a delegation of 7 participants - 2nd and 3rd year students studying in the program "Russian as a foreign language, Chinese language" (Yaroslavna Kuzmina, Eva Radetskaya, Alevtina Yakovleva, Timofey Shvedov, Ulyana Zhdan, Alena Meleticheva) and a Teacher of Chinese language of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and Applied Linguistics Wang Shichu. They told about Petrozavodsk University, presented the program of training "Russian as a foreign language, Chinese language", held a master class on drawing meihua - Chinese plum, which blooms in winter and is considered in China a symbol of longevity, endurance and fortitude. On the day of the in-person stage of the forum, an educational exhibition is held, in which this year more than 30 universities of Russia and China, engaged in the training of specialists with the Chinese language, translators, teachers of Chinese, companies, associations, publishing houses took part. A separate stand of PetrSU was presented at this exhibition. During a working meeting with the President of the Association for the Development of Sinology A. D. Pavlova, an agreement was reached on the further development of cooperation between the Association and PetrSU in several areas, including the organization of academic internships, academic exchange, etc.

Every year, the Forum brings together hundreds of sinologists from Russia and other countries on one platform to exchange ideas, improve their qualifications in the field of the most modern methods of teaching the Chinese language and sinology. Participation in the forum is a unique opportunity to learn how to learn Chinese, what manuals to choose, where to study to become a sought-after specialist, what are the features of working with China and what you need to be prepared for. In 2024, more than 100 professional speakers with the Chinese language from the fields of teaching, translation, and business spoke at the Forum. The Institute of Philology of PetrSU is participating in the Forum for the second time.
