PetrSU at the Scientific and Practical Conference "Sociology of Religion in Russia"
The conference was opened by Irina Georgievna Kargina, Head of the Department of Educational and Organizational Work, Professor of the Department of Sociology of MGIMO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Chairman of the Scientific Committee "Sociology of Religion" of the Russian Society of Sociologists. An important element of the program was the speech of one of the leading foreign sociologists of religion Roberto Cipriani, Honorary Professor of the University of Rome, on the topic "New Prospects for the Sociology of Religion".
Petrozavodsk University was represented at the conference by Mikhail Ivanovich Bezborodov, Associate Professor of the Department of Political and Social Sciences, Candidate of Political Sciences. The topic of the speech: "State-Confessional Relations in Modern Russia. The Russian Orthodox Church in the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation (on the example of the Republic of Karelia)." The report presents an analysis of the state policy of the Republic of Karelia on the implementation of state-confessional relations, current state programs in this area. One of the priority areas in Karelia is the development of spiritual and moral and civic-patriotic education, strengthening traditional spiritual and moral values, which is especially relevant in the context of the breakdown of the old system of international relations and the implementation of the SMO. The conference presents the experience of leading researchers in the field of sociology of religion and state-confessional relations through the prism of identifying relevant research tracks, including theoretical and methodological ones, filling the Russian sociology of religion today, and provides an overview of relevant research areas covering the sphere of religion abroad. The participants discussed the main directions of transformations of the modern institution of religion and new types of religiosity, changing ideas about the place and role of religion in the modern world.
