Medical Students from India Meet with Schoolchildren from the University Lyceum

21 April 2025
Another interesting meeting was held at Petrozavodsk State University as a part of international cooperation with schools: 2nd-year medical students from India talked with 7th-8th grade students of the MOU "University Lyceum". The participants of the meeting engaged in a real dialogue of cultures and traditions.

The students asked questions about life in India, the differences in the traditions of the two countries, as well as about studying at the Medical Institute. The students shared their experience of adapting to the Russian climate and local customs.

In turn, the students from India told the children from Russia about their dance traditions.

They prepared a small master class on Indian dances: Nandu Gopal demonstrated elements of a wedding dance in a national costume. Varsha and Varshitha showed basic movements that the students were able to repeat.

The meeting became a good opportunity for language exchange - the participants communicated in Russian and English. For many lyceum students, this was the first experience of direct communication with representatives of Indian culture.

The meeting was organized by teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages and Russian Languages for Medical Specialties N. D. Zhilina and M. O. Artemyeva and the English teacher of the University Lyceum A. E. Ershova.

The organizers believe that such events help to better understand the traditions of other countries and find common ground between different cultures.
