65 years of the Zilber Medical Institute
The anniversary scientific and practical conference dedicated to the most pressing issues of medical knowledge opened, in which leading Russian scientists took part. They shared the latest achievements of medical science in Russia.
The conference was opened by the Director of the Medical Institute, Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences Alexander Timofeevich Balashov. He spoke about the history of the institute, giving a lecture about the luminaries of Karelian medicine who stood at the origins of the creation of the medical faculty, about the main milestones of its development, successes and achievements.

“I would like to note that 2020-2025, this period of life was full of events of various directions. These are the challenges and difficulties caused by the pandemic of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19.
These are events related to very significant changes in the system of higher medical education (rapid introduction of digital educational technologies into the educational process). This is a sharp increase in the number of international students, including those studying in English. These are real breakthroughs in scientific achievements (one of them was the successful implementation of the universal scientific installation project). This is a huge joint work with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Karelia to improve the personnel situation in the healthcare sector of the republic. The team of the Medical Institute of PetrSU coped with all these challenges with dignity and honor.

In the theoretical building (near the memorial plaque to Professor A.P. Zilber), the grand opening of the Interactive Museum of the History of the Zilber Medical Institute took place.
Later, the conference hall of the Piter Inn Hotel hosted a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Zilber Medical Institute of PetrSU.
On September 13, at 10:00, the hall of the Noble Assembly of the National Museum of the Republic of Karelia hosted a presentation of the 3rd volume of the "History of the Zilber Medical Institute of PetrSU, followed by a tour of the museum introducing the history of medicine in the Olonetsk province and Karelia.
