A PetrSU Student Is the Winner of a Scholarship Program
According to the organizers, over 44,000 applications were submitted to the Alfa-Future Scholarships program. Interest in the program was record-breaking, and the selection process was rigorous. Both academic achievement and achievements outside of the classroom were considered in the evaluation of candidates. High academic performance played a significant role: students were required to earn only "good" and "excellent" grades for all sessions.
Furthermore, the committee considered participation in scientific and educational events such as Olympiads, hackathons, and competitions, as well as scientific publications and conference presentations. Students' professional activities were also considered. Professional experience, internships, and participation in practical training and projects were taken into account. Active involvement in extracurricular activities was also an important criterion.
PetrSU student Eva Radetskaya demonstrated success in all areas. In May 2024, she successfully passed the HSK-4 Chinese language qualification exam and is currently preparing for the next level, HSK-5. In the fall of 2024, she completed an academic internship at Tianjin Normal University, one of the best pedagogical universities in northern China and a prestigious center for teaching Chinese to international students. Eva currently teaches Chinese at Gymnasium No. 30 in Petrozavodsk for students in grades 2–4 and 5–8 as a supplementary education teacher.
Eva Radetskaya took an active part in the recent 3rd International Scientific-Practical and Scientific-Methodological Conference "Current Issues of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language in Modern Education – 2025" held at PetrSU, where she moderated the section "Methodological and Linguistic Aspects of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language." Currently, together with her academic advisor, Associate Professor O.V. Semenova of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and Applied Linguistics, she is preparing a research article for publication, "Adjectives Meaning 'Worth a Lot of Money' in Literary Language and Dialectal Speech." In the near future, Eva, along with other students majoring in "Russian as a Foreign Language and Chinese," plans to participate in the next large-scale Sinologists' Forum, which will be held in Moscow in early December under the auspices of the Association for the Development of Sinology.
The program's scholarship recipients will receive additional support from Alfa-Bank throughout the academic year – a monthly payment of 5,000 rubles. In addition, they will be granted access to closed Alfa-Bank events.
The staff of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and Applied Linguistics congratulates Eva Radetskaya on her success and wishes her continued professional growth and new achievements!
