The Network Program Brings Together Students from Uzbekistan at PetrSU
Petrozavodsk State University is steadily expanding its potential as an international educational center, providing international students with ample opportunities to obtain a high-quality education at both the introductory and advanced levels through joint programs.
Petrozavodsk State University's continued collaboration with the Abu Ali ibn Sina Bukhara Medical Institute deserves special attention. For the second year in a row, students from Uzbekistan have come to the Zilber Medical Institute to complete the core professional educational program, which is offered online.
This program represents a unique educational format, allowing students to receive a high-quality education at two universities simultaneously – one domestic and one international. The program is structured around the principle of networking between educational organizations and consists of three stages:
Stage I (3 years) – study at the home university, where students master basic disciplines and gain fundamental knowledge in their chosen specialty.
Stage II (2 years) – study at a foreign partner university, where students deepen their knowledge and gain international experience.
Stage III (1 year) – the final stage of study at the home university, where students integrate their acquired knowledge and prepare for final assessment.
The undoubted advantages of this program include obtaining a dual degree within a single program, expanding professional horizons, developing intercultural competence, strengthening international ties, and increasing competitiveness in the labor market. Thus, this type of training helps prepare highly qualified specialists with both fundamental knowledge and international experience.
This academic year, new students joined PetrSU after passing entrance examinations in six core subjects. They will spend two years at PetrSU, mastering the fourth and fifth-year curriculum, allowing them to maximize their time to acquire professional skills. Three new students have only recently begun their studies, but are already demonstrating high motivation and a thirst for knowledge. Some of them are already actively involved in student life, joining scientific and even volunteer associations.
Currently, 15 students are studying in the General Medicine and Pediatrics programs at the Zilber Medical Institute of PetrSU under a joint educational program with the Abu Ali ibn Sina Bukhara Medical Institute, each contributing to the strengthening of international ties between our educational institutions. This program continues to develop successfully, opening new opportunities for young professionals.
