13 October 2025
From October 8 to 11, educational and creative events were held in Kyrgyzstan as part of two cultural and educational projects: "About the Great Victory in Russian" and "My Friends, Our Union Is Wonderful!"

"Public Diplomacy Forum" is how participants from both Russia and Kyrgyzstan described the projects. The goal is to promote the Russian language and culture in Central Asian countries, develop bilateral cooperation between educational institutions in Russia and Kyrgyzstan, and preserve the historical memory of the events of the Great Patriotic War.

The events were held at the initiative of the Karelian Regional Public Organization "Poetry Theater "Credo" with the support of the "Russkiy Mir" Foundation, the Ministry of National and Regional Policy of the Republic of Karelia, the Administration of the Petrozavodsk City District, and Petrozavodsk State University.

The delegation included representatives from Petrozavodsk and St. Petersburg – Petrozavodsk State University, the Karelian College of Culture and Arts named after Hero of the Soviet Union A.M. Lisitsyna, the Karelian Regional Public Organization "Poetry Theater "Credo," the SAMPO TV 360° TV channel, and the State Budgetary Cultural Institution "Petersburg-Concert." PetrSU was represented by A.A. Kotov, Head of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and Applied Linguistics.

Over the course of several days, open lectures, seminars, various interactive activities, and concert performances were held, dedicated to Russian culture and the works of A.S. Pushkin. A presentation of the collection of materials "The Great Victory. Routes of Memory" and the educational didactic game "The Russian Word is Familiar to Everyone" was held. Associate Professor O.V. Semenova helped create the game. During their several-day stay in Kyrgyzstan, the delegation visited several cities: Osh, Uzgen, and Jalal-Abad (Manas).

A.A. Kotov gave several open lectures for students and faculty at the Center for Russian Language and Culture at the Institute of Russian Philology and Intercultural Communication of Osh State University, the Kyrgyz-Uzbek International University, and Jalal-Abad State University, as well as for graduating students of Tagay Tashmamatov Secondary School No. 7 in the Uzgen District of Osh Region. The lecture topics were tailored to the specific needs of the audience, taking into account the needs of educators and their level of specialized training: "The Linguistic Picture of the World," "Modern Russian Lexicography," "V.I. Dahl as a Lexicographer (on the 225th Anniversary of His Birth"), and "The Use of AI Technologies in the Modern Educational Process." During a meeting with the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Jalal-Abad University, an agreement was reached to develop cooperation with the Department of Russian Philology to promote academic mobility and maintain scientific contacts.

All events elicited a lively response from the participants.

Z.Ya. Miskichekova, Head of the Russian Center at the Osh Branch of the Russian State Social University:

“Events like these are a breath of fresh air for the residents of Kyrgyzstan; they are a unique opportunity to hear proper Russian speech, experience great Russian culture, and gain new knowledge. Many thanks to all the project participants!

The "About the Great Victory in Russian" project is a continuation of the Days of Russian Culture series of events, which were successfully held from 2013 to 2024 in Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus.

The project's director is I.A. Gaevskaya, a graduate of PetrSU.
