PetrSU Students Undergo Academic Internships at Chinese Universities
We recently published a review from third-year students Daria Ershova and Svyatoslav Zapasny, who are studying at Qingdao University.
Qingdao is one of China's largest cities, one of the most established traditional metropolitan areas, and a major port. Located in eastern Shandong Province, in the south of the Shandong Peninsula, Qingdao is bordered by the Yellow Sea and is considered one of China's most picturesque coastal cities.
This applies to scientific and technological centers with a population of over 10 million people. The city is home to more than 10 universities, including Qingdao University (Qingdao University), Shandong University of Science and Technology (SDUST), Ocean University of China (Haida), and others. Among them is Qingdao City University, where second- and third-year students from the Institute of Philology at PetrSU are also completing internships, including Alena Meleticheva, Timofey Shvedov, and Ulyana Zhdan.
We are publishing their reviews and videos in English and Chinese, where they discuss their studies, daily life, and impressions.
“We would like to share our impressions of the language internship at Qingdao City University (QCU). This program allows us not only to learn Chinese, but also to fully adapt to the linguistic environment of the country where the language is spoken.
Particularly valuable are the interactive classes, taught exclusively in Chinese. Through role-playing games, collaborative projects, and constant interaction with international students from Korea, Thailand, and Indonesia, we learn not only to speak but also to think in Chinese. For us, this is a valuable, unique, and extremely rare experience of intercultural interaction!
The field trips were also unforgettable—especially the excursions to tea plantations, where we learned about the art of tea cultivation and the richness of traditional Middle Eastern tea culture. These lively cultural lessons were a wonderful complement to our classes in contemporary painting and language practice.
This internship is an invaluable contribution to our professional and personal development. We are delighted that PetrSU offers students such opportunities for growth! We thank Petrozavodsk State University and our Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and Applied Linguistics for the opportunity to participate in this program. If you want language to become more than just a part of your schedule, but a part of your life, you should be at PetrSU!
The Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and Applied Linguistics wishes Alena, Timofey, and Ulyana academic discoveries and professional success!
